Learning by teaching

Why Blog?

I blog to learn more about a subject, and to make that learned information available to other developers.  As an engineer, I frequently search the web for answers to my questions.  Many times I will find my answer on Stack Overflow, but often I'll end up on a blog where the author went to great lengths to describe some solution or insight.  I have enjoyed reading others' work for years, but it is important for me to also give back and contribute to the coding community from which I have benefited so much.

About Jon Travis

I have been writing software since the late 80's and still find a lot of joy in creating things with code.  I'm continually inspired by the work of others and find ways to include the best of their craft in my own toolbox. I occasionally speak at conferences and contribute to Open Source projects.

I'm currently a co-founder at a stealth startup, which should be exposing itself in the middle of 2014.  I hope to fill this blog with solutions that I encounter as I build the next generation of software.

The best way to contact me is at my primary email:  jtravis@kodefu.org.
